How to Be a sustainable traveller

Our 10 Top Tips 

1.  Pack a reusable cotton bag that you can take to markets to help reduce plastic waste. We also recommend taking a water bottle too.

2.  Look to book eco-friendly hotels and tours. Ask about our range of luxury glamping options.

3.  Eat in local restaurants rather than big, branded names. Trust us, they’re delicious! 

4.  Try to buy locally made souvenirs, rather than mass-produced, imported goods. 

5.  When you leave your room remember to turn off the lights and air-conditioning.

6.  Be sensitive to taking pictures of locals and avoid being photographed with animals used for tourism as this encourages captivity.

7.  Fly direct when possible as most emissions are released during take-off and landing.

8.  Honour local customs and dress appropriately in places of worship.

9.  It can be tricky but try not to give money to children begging. It encourages a begging economy and discourages them to go to school. If you wish to donate, we would be happy to suggest local charities.

10.  Try and learn a few words or phrases, even if you get them horribly wrong, locals love it when you try to speak their language. They will also correct you for next time!
