ANCIENT TEMPLES AND FLOATING VILLAGES
Situated in the northwest is the magnificent archaeological site of Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s most famous landmark which pays tribute to what remains of the Khmer Empire. This vast religious complex, dating back to the 12th century, is one of the greatest cultural wonders of the world. As you wander around the intricate temple complex you will see how the ancient city is entwined in jungle vines creating an eerie and mysterious ambience which leaves you trying to image this awesome kingdom in its glory days. Find out how our local guides can show you the lesser-known areas that are not found in most guidebooks.
From jungle and temple wilderness of Siem Reap, you can journey south and take a boat ride across the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, Tonle Sap, which leads to the infamous Mekong Delta. This is an important area of biodiversity with over 30 species of freshwater fish, as well as crocodiles, snakes, tortoises, turtles, otters and water birds including storks and pelicans. In harmony with its ecosystem, you will also see the floating villages situated at the edge of the lake.
IDYLLIC ISLANDS
As you venture to the south coast you will come to a tropical oasis of white sandy beaches. Here you can feel the cares of the world melt away as you float around in the tropical seas, snorkelling above the coral reefs or gently cruising around the islands on a private boat. This is also a place of great cuisine, and along the coast, foodies can tuck into freshly caught crab in the small town of Kep.
