Vietnam is commonly travelled from north to south, or vice versa, between the two major cities Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. Hanoi is known for its French colonial influence combined with its ancient architecture, as opposed to Ho Chi Minh, which is now an urban metropolis dotted with skyscrapers and bright lights. Between these two cities you will find a treasure-trove of picturesque rivers, lush mountains, dramatic waterfalls, golden coastlines, bustling towns and traditional villages, all bursting with colour, life, history and culture.

   

      

   

THE MAGNIFICENT NORTH

A short drive from Hanoi will take you to the glorious Ha Long Bay. Sail on a Junk Boat around the emerald waters, kayak and swim around the towering limestone islands and stop off at secluded beaches along the way. You will get a chance to visit floating villages where you can learn about their prized commodity, saltwater pearls. From the sea to the mountains, take an overnight train to the north-west where brightly dressed hill tribes will welcome you to Sapa. Hike through the scenic valleys, taking in the fresh mountain air and wonderful views with paddy fields and magnificent waterfalls.
